Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Friday received a working visit from Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio. They visited Petrinja and the two container settlements in Mošćenica that had been donated by the Italian government.

“On behalf of the Croatian government and the people of this area, I would like to thank Italy for once again sending help through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, following its substantial assistance immediately after the earthquake in December”, Grlić Radman said.

The Italian government donated two fully furnished container settlements, each housing 50 persons. The first is to be located in Mošćenica near Petrinja, and the other in Sisak. “This is a small gesture, but it marks one big friendship. I wish the families housed in these settlements all the best and may they find permanent homes as soon as possible,” Di Maio said.

Grlić Radman also thanked Italy for the numerous individual donations from associations, NGOs, regions, cities and the Italian Episcopal Conference. He recalled that Italy had also sent members of the Blue Helmets of Culture to help salvage the cultural heritage from the ruins.

“This is yet another confirmation of our good-neighbourly relations and another example of Croatia and Italy’s cooperation”, the minister underlined.
