Minister Žužul met in the Hague with Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot

Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul met today, 30 November in the Hague, with Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot, Chairman of the EU Council of Ministers

Both ministers are taking part at the EUROMED ministerial meeting on Euro-Mediterranean process and co-operation. Minister Žužul said that the dialogue between Europe and the Mediterranean countries is important for Croatia who has good relations with the Mediterranean countries and wants to actively contribute to that process wherever possible.

Minister Bot expressed his pleasure with and commended the Croatian government for evident progress it is making in preparations for future EU membership. Bot pointed out the importance of co-operation with the ICTY, stressing that the Netherlands, as a presiding country, wants to have an objective and impartial approach, and added that the latest reports by Tribunal’s President Meron and Chief Prosecutor Del Ponte are particularly important in that regard.

Minister Žužul emphasised and confirmed the Croatian government’s firm dedication to full co-operation with the ICTY. A single case cannot diminish everything Croatia has so far achieved in approaching and acceding the European Union.
