Minister Vesna Pusić received British Embassy’s charge d'affaires Christopher Hodge

Pusić and Hodge expressed satisfaction with the positive outcome of Croatia's EU accession referendum

Pusić and Hodge expressed satisfaction with the positive outcome of Croatia's EU accession referendum, with Pusić pointing out that the Croatian government remained committed to continuing with the reforms and the fulfilment of the remaining obligations, so that Croatia would be ready for membership on 1 July 2013. In light of that, she presented the future coordination of European affairs within the state administration, to be led by the European Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. Pusić also voiced hope that the British parliament would soon ratify the Croatia-EU accession treaty

The minister said she was glad about Britain's willingness to intensify its assistance to Croatia in the run-up to EU accession and strengthen the cooperation between the two countries’ foreign offices. The two officials then discussed continuing the education at the European Studies in the UK, as well as cooperation in organizing trainings on EU issues for Croatia’s civil servants.

Also discussed were visits by British Minister for Europe David Lidington to Zagreb and Minister Pusić to London, planned for this year.
