First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić will pay an official visit to Iran on Saturday and Sunday, where she is to meet with with her host, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and President Hassan Rouhani.

Pusić will also be received by National Consultative Assembly Speaker Ali Larijani as well as meet with the Vice President in charge of environmental protection, Masoumeh Ebtekar, and the Vice President in charge of women and family affairs, Shahindokht Molaverdi.

The last visit by a Croatian foreign minister to Iran was 12 years ago and this visit is taking place after the easing of sanctions against Iran and Croatia's accession to the European Union. Apart from bilateral issues, the talks will address regional crises, human rights and the fight against terrorism. On a side note, last week in Brussels High Representative Mogherini and Iranian FM Zarif also discussed the situation in the region and the fight against terrorism
