First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received today President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Anne Brasseur

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received today President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Anne Brasseur, who is on an official visit to Croatia.

The two officials discussed the situation in the region, with Brasseur stressing there was still “a lot of unfinished business”, adding that “Croatia and its successful EU path are an important example to other countries in the region.” Pusić reiterated that the European process and reforms were just as important as the EU membership itself, and that Croatia wanted its neighbours to go down that road.

Pusić and Brasseur also discussed the situation in Ukraine, but also the situation within the EU itself, with Brasseur underscoring the importance of fighting jointly against extremism and terrorism.

She added that Croatia should ratify as soon as possible the revised Social Charter and the Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women.
