Minister Pusić receives Australian ambassador

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received incoming Australian Ambassador Susan Cox, stressing that Croatia’s EU membership would add a new positive dimension to our bilateral relations

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received incoming Australian Ambassador Susan Cox, stressing that Croatia’s EU membership would add a new positive dimension to our bilateral relations. Cox said Australia supported Croatia’s membership, as the EU was Australia’s second largest market. As for strengthening the bilateral relations, she said a Croatian-Australian business forum had been founded recently by young business leaders.

Pusić said that once it entered the EU, Croatia would shift its focus to other important areas of international relations, including cooperation with the Pacific countries. “Croatia may be a distant country, but it feels close thanks to a large number of Croats who live there,” Pusić said.

Both agreed that cooperation in multilateral forums was one of the important areas in which the two countries could find a mutual interest.
