First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić, in regard to the ruling of the Zagreb Municipal Court, according to which Slovenian banks must pay back the debt to their depositors with interest, said it was only one in a series of proceedings being led in courts.

“As we have said countless times before, and I will confirm that once again, the Croatian side is willing to drop the lawsuits and withdraw the power of attorney given to the banks if we manage to reach an alternative solution with the Slovenian side. We still stand behind that,” said Pusić, confirming the meeting with Slovenian Foreign Minister Erjavec scheduled for next week. The meeting will discuss various possibilities and, Pusić is hopeful, yield a solution.

“I think that we are very close, that both sides understand the seriousness of the situation, and that we will manage to solve the issue,” concluded the minister, who is attending the EU-CELAC Summit in Santiago de Chile.
