First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Integration Vesna Pusić 25 January 2013 held bilateral talks with Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar during the EU- CELAC Summit in Santiago, Chile.

Pusić informed her Colombian counterpart about the course and completion of Croatia’s accession process, stressing that the period between the ratification of the Stabilization and Accession Agreement, the closure of the negotiations and the pending full-fledged EU membership had been used to build state institutions, which is the foundation of a stable country and region. She added that for the purposes of transferring the know-how gained during the negotiating process the minister had founded the Centre of Excellence so that Croatian experts could share their experience with the neighbouring countries and the Southern Mediterranean.

Cuellar said that Colombia was very interested in cooperation with Croatia and invited Pusić to an official visit. The two ministers agreed that opening honorary consulates and appointing honorary consuls was a good way to identify areas and projects of mutual interest.
