Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić 3 October 2012 received incoming Indian Ambassador Lal Thla Muana

The Indian ambassador said vast possibilities lay ahead of Croatia and India once the EU-India Free Trade Agreement was signed, in view of Croatia’s pending EU membership.

Pusić said that Croatia, despite being focused on the EU member countries while preparing for the membership, was interested in cooperation with other countries as well, and had ties with India going back to Yugoslavia. She stressed the necessity of signing the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement as soon as possible in order to facilitate economic cooperation, namely in the area of pharmacy, textile, food and wood industry. “Our universities have excellent ties, which is important for building relations between societies,” said Pusić.

Muana invited Pusić to officially visit India and thanked her for supporting his election to the UN.

The Indian ambassador extended his condolences over the death of Croatian parliament speaker Boris Šprem.
