Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received delegation of Committee for Foreign Affairs of Chamber of Deputies of Italian Republic

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on Tuesday, 27 March 2007, in Zagreb the delegation of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic which was led by the President of the Committee Umberto Ranieri

Both parties confirmed good bilateral relations between the two countries whose reciprocal directions are reflected in economic relations which have a rising trend. The speakers expressed desire to deepen mutual cooperation, especially in the field of the Adriatic Sea related to issues of security, environment protection, tourism and cultural cooperation. Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed the President of the Committee Ranieri about the high level of protection of minority rights given to the Italian minority in the Republic of Croatia. She also informed the President of the Committee Ranieri that these rights are consistent with the EU standards and that the Italian minority receives subsidies, which are getting higher every year, from the national budget of the Republic of Croatia. The Croatian side expressed expectations that the Italian Republic will give the same kind of support to the Croatian minority groups in Italy.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović expressed appreciation for the support that the Italian Republic offers the Republic of Croatia in the process of accession to Euroatlantic integrations. In this view the President of the Committee Ranieri expressed support of the Parliament of the Italian Republic for the Croatian accession to the European Union and the Northatlantic Alliance, assessing the role of Croatia in the region as important.

The speakers exchanged viewpoints on several open issues and agreed that these issues need to be solved through mutual dialogue and cooperation.
