Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović held a lecture at the Belgian Royal Institute for International Relations entitled “Croatian Accession to the EU: a 3D View”

Croatian Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović held a lecture 6 October 2005 at the Belgian Royal Institute for International Relations entitled “Croatian Accession to the EU: a 3D View”

In her lecture, Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed the present parties about the decision of the EU Council, reached 3 October 2005 in Luxembourg, to open the accession negotiations with Croatia.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointed out that the last wave of enlargement was extremely successful and that Croatia wants to enter the EU as a constructive partner, bringing along with it no problems whatsoever. She said that during the negotiations process, Croatia will continue to dynamically and determinately conduct the reforms undertaken, whose goal is the full EU membership, but which at he same time will serve as a catalyst of sorts for ending the transition process.

At the end of the lecture, Minister Grabar-Kitarović said that the Croatian Government, through its communication strategy involving the dialogue with the citizens, will try to illustrate the pros and difficulties that the EU membership brings.
