Minister Jandroković met with group of German journalists

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration met 6 May 2008 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration with a group of German journalists

During the meeting with 30-odd journalists from various German media such as WAZ, Welt, Tagesspeil et al, led by Head of the European Commission’s Representation to Berlin Gerhard Sabathil, Minister Jandroković spoke about Croatia’s foreign policy priorities, with a special emphasis on the EU and NATO accession, Croatia’s role in South Eastern Europe, and relations with the neighbours.

In regards to the course of Croatia’s EU accession, Minister Jandroković sad that Croatia had already crossed half of that paths and plans to close the accession negotiations by the summer of 2009. Concerning the NATO membership invitation, Minister Jandroković explained the steps that await Croatia in order for it to become its full member at the next summit.

Good relations with the neighbouring countries, peace and stability in the region is another thing Croatia is fully dedicated to, said Minister Jandroković. Aware of its role as a link between South Eastern Europe and the EU, Croatia has also been recognised as a good example to other countries in the region on their path towards the Euro-Atlantic integration.

In light of the characteristics of Croatia’s bilateral relations with its neighbours, Minister Jandroković explained their further perspectives, while as regards the multilateral relations he noted the regional initiatives through which Croatia is also active contributing to thee stabilisation of the region.
