The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the relations between Croatia and Egypt, convinced that this visit will incite further enhancement of the bilateral relations. Cooperation between the two ministries of foreign affairs was also described as very good, with the last political consultations having been held in June this year.

Talking about the economic cooperation, the collocutors pointed out that Croatia and Egypt, as two Mediterranean countries, share a lot of common interests, with vast potential for further cooperation primarily in oil and gas industry, energy, construction, timber and food industry. They also emphasized the need for a stronger networking between Croatian and Egyptian businessmen through fairs and mutual visits by economic delegations, as well as the need for more frequent meetings of the Joint Croatian-Egyptian Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation. Croatia, it was pointed out, thanks to its geographic position, can serve as a transport linking point for Egyptian businessmen with the EU countries.

The ministers also exchanged opinions about the two countries’ cooperation within multilateral institutions, with a special emphasis on the cooperation within the UN and the Union for the Mediterranean. In November this year, Croatia will organize a meeting of environment ministers, which will be the first UfM meeting in Croatia. The collocutors also discussed the state of affairs in the Near East and South Eastern Europe.

Lastly, Minister Jandroković invited Minister Gheit to official visit the Republic of Croatia, thanking him for his previous invitation to officially visit Egypt.
