Minister Grlić Radman participates in High-Level Segment of HRC 55

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Monday in Geneva participated in the High-Level Segment of the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC).
 
In his address, the minister outlined Croatia’s human rights priorities and reflected on the legal and humanitarian aspect of the world’s key crisis points. On the 2nd anniversary of the war in Ukraine, he condemned Russia’s aggression, saying that ensuring accountability for international law violations was the safest way towards reconciliation and lasting peace. Concerning the situation in the Middle East, the minister underscored Croatia’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Gaza.
 
Grlić Radman recalled that the previous year Croatia had joined the Global Alliance for the Missing under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). He also drew attention to Croatia’s mid-term report on follow-up of the recommendations under the third cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). Moreover, the minister reflected on Croatia’s successful IHRA presidency.
 
In addition, Grlić Radman attended the event 10 Years of Russia’s Assault on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in Ukraine, where he condemned the forced deportation of children from the occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia. He also held several bilateral meetings, including those with the Swiss candidate for CoE secretary general, Alain Berset, and ICRC President Mirjana Špoljarić Egger.
