Minister Grlić Radman officially visits Georgia

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Thursday started his official visit to Georgia, the first such visit by a Croatian foreign minister to that country.
 
Grlić Radman met with his Georgian counterpart Ilia Darchiashvili for talks on continuing the intensification of the political dialogue between Croatia and Georgia, as well as on strengthening cooperation in economy, trade, tourism, energy and culture.
 
“I reiterated Croatia’s full support for Georgia’s European path to Minister Darchiashvili. Georgia is progressing towards candidate status and we are ready to help it along that path – from our own experience we know that it is a long journey, but it is definitely useful and we welcome reform efforts and commitment to the EU accession process,” Grlić Radman said. He added that Croatia supported Georgia’s European path, its sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognised borders, as well as peaceful conflict resolution.
 
After the meeting, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the area of diplomatic training. Grlić Radman welcomed the recent opening of the Georgian embassy in Zagreb and the consulate in Pula, which is sure to advance our bilateral relations.
 
Grlić Radman also met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Deputy Prime Minister and Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Levan Davitashvili, with whom he signed an agreement between the two governments on economic cooperation.
