Minister Grlić Radman meets with Montenegrin counterpart Radulović

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday in Zagreb held talks with Montenegrin Foreign Minister Đorđe Radulović.

Grlić Radman said that Radulović’s visit underscored the excellent bilateral dynamic between Croatia and Montenegro, as well as the two countries’ commitment to the strengthening of relations and an open and constructive dialogue on all issues.

“We had very good and open talks on our bilateral relations as well as on a number of regional and global topics, including EU enlargement and Montenegro’s European path. We both agreed our relations are good. Our countries are partners within NATO and cooperate very well within a number of regional and international organizations as well. We underlined the potential for additional strengthening of economic cooperation and discussed the status of our respective national minorities,” Grlić Radman said.

The two ministers expressed willingness to seek solutions to all outstanding issues bilaterally and in good-neighbourly fashion. Grlić Radman reiterated Croatia’s support for Montenegro’s European prospects and further progress in accession talks. “We are convinced that the Montenegrin government will continue to work on meeting the remaining criteria and make big progress. Croatia has travelled that road and is well aware of the difficulty and scope of the work ahead of Montenegro. I once again underscored our readiness to continue offering technical assistance in the transfer of our accession process experiences and know-how,” he said.

“EU membership has no alternative and Montenegro highly appreciates Croatia’s strong support for the European perspective of our country and the Western Balkans. On that path, the experience of Croatia, which is our nearest EU member state and has the freshest experience, is of invaluable importance,” Radulović said.

The two ministers concluded that Croatia and Montenegro, as two neighbouring, friendly and partner countries, could and should continue building their relations in the spirit of good-neighbourliness and mutual respect.
