Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Friday met with representatives of the Croatian Cultural Society Napredak (Progress), led by its President Nikola Čiča.

The talks focused on the political and social status of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, organizational advancement of Progress, and the dynamic of returning its property seized during the Yugoslav communist regime.

Radman underscored that Progress played a vital role in preserving the national awareness and cultural heritage of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the Bay of Kotor. He added that Progress also played an important role in the social and cultural life of Croatia, as well as a number of expat communities, as evidenced by the numerous prominent scientists, artists, sportsmen and writers that were the society’s members or scholarship recipients – including two Nobel Prize winners.

Čiča thanked for Croatia’s continuous support to BiH Croats and their institutions. The interlocutors concluded that institutional ties should be strengthened, as only joint work could yield desired results, which is true sustainability and the preservation of the national identity of BiH Croats.
