Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, who is on a working visit to Chile, on Monday presented the Croats in Santiago with the decisions on Croatian citizenship, underscoring the "great contribution" of Croats and their descendants to the socio-political and cultural life of that country.

Grlić Radman said that Croats contributed to the prosperity and life of the Chilean society, pointing out that the president of the country, Gabriel Borić, is also from the island of Ugljan.

During his visit to the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Chile, the Minister will sign a Memorandum on the establishment of a lectorate for the Croatian language with Dean Raúl Villarroel Soto.

On Monday, the minister also met with his Chilean counterpart Alberto van Klaveren, saying that there was room for improving economic cooperation in energy, IT, agriculture, forestry, tourism and the defence industry.

Given the excellent cooperation achieved by Chile through various formats of the European Union, Croatia can, due to its excellent geopolitical position, provide ports of reception when it comes to the (Chilean) interest in being present on the free market of the Union, Grlić Radman said.
