Minister Grlić Radman: EU must prevent spillover effects of Ukraine crisis in W. Balkans

The EU should be more present in the Western Balkans to prevent spillover effects of the crisis in Ukraine, where Russia continues with its aggression and increasingly brutal attacks on civilians, Croatia's Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman said in Brussels on Monday.

"I will underline the need to prevent spillover effects of the crisis in the Western Balkans. The EU must be more present in the region, notably Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the election reform is urgently needed to secure the equality of the three constituent peoples. That is key to Bosnia and Herzegovina's security," Grlić Radman said before the start of a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

The minister said that he would also talk at the meeting about the crash of an armed military drone in Zagreb ten days ago.

The EU foreign ministers are expected to discuss possible new sanctions against Russia against which the EU has already introduced unprecedented sanctions.
