Minister Grlić Radman attends opening of exhibition marking 1,100th anniversary of King Tomislav’s coronation
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman attended the opening of the exhibition "Duvno Field - The Royal Throne: A Contemporary Interpretation of the Legend of King Tomislav’s Coronation" at the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb. The exhibition commemorates the 1,100th anniversary of King Tomislav’s coronation and the founding of the Kingdom of Croatia.
In his address, the minister stated that the anniversary of King Tomislav’s coronation will be celebrated throughout the year with a series of events, reminding the public of the importance of Croatian history and identity. "Preserving our historical heritage is our responsibility and duty to future generations. I sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the realization of this exceptional project. May this anniversary and exhibition inspire us to proudly safeguard and promote Croatian history and culture," said Grlić Radman while inaugurating the exhibition. He added that the exhibition testifies to the rich history and cultural heritage of the Croatian people, with particular emphasis on the symbolism of Duvno Field, the site where, according to legend, King Tomislav was crowned.
The exhibition is held under the patronage of the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, and is organized by the Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina "Stećak" and the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb. The exhibition will be open until March 23, 2025, featuring newly designed and crafted royal insignia and garments, works by contemporary painters inspired by the landscapes of Duvno Field and its surroundings, as well as artistic photographs depicting the historical re-enactment of the coronation.
