From July 9 to 11, 2024, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman participated in the NATO Summit in Washington, marking the 75th anniversary of the most successful military alliance in history. This year, the Republic of Croatia celebrates 15 years of NATO membership.

During the Summit, the importance of strengthening transatlantic security and supporting Ukraine was emphasized. The war in Ukraine clearly demonstrates the global dimension of security challenges, requiring united efforts to defend the international order based on the rule of law. On the sidelines of the summit, Grlić Radman held a series of bilateral meetings with colleagues from other NATO member states, discussing current security challenges, strengthening defence capacities, and joint efforts in promoting peace and stability. Special emphasis was placed on the significance of unity and solidarity among NATO members in protecting common values and security.

The celebration of NATO's 75th anniversary and Croatia's 15th year of NATO membership represents an opportunity to remind us of the importance of unity and solidarity among member states that together protect our shared values and security. Over the past seven and a half decades, NATO has proven to be the most successful military alliance in history, and the strong transatlantic bond remains crucial in preserving peace and stability.

The Republic of Croatia remains committed to promoting peace, security, and democratic principles and will continue to build a future based on these values together with its NATO allies.
