Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, as the envoy of the prime minister, attended on Saturday a conference on “Lijepa zemlja Bosna i Hercegovina” (Beautiful Country Bosnia and Herzegovina), which saw the presentation of the four volumes of “Iznad crte” (Above the Line) by Deputy Chairman of the BiH House of Peoples Dragan Čović.

In his address, Grlić Radman reviewed “Above the Line 4”, for which he had written the afterword on Čović’s active involvement on the international and nation political scene as well as his long-standing fight for the equality of BiH Croats. “It is precisely thanks to Čović’s combined efforts that many relevant actors in the world have a much more objective view of what is going on in BiH and the challenges of preserving the political subjectivity of BiH Croats”, the minister said.

Grlić Radman also reflected on the complex history of BiH and its interconnectedness with Croatia. “Bosnia and Herzegovina is closely tied to Croatia. It can be clearly seen in all aspects of life: from the national and cultural ones, to those economic, demographic and geostrategic,” he said.

The minister, moreover, underscored the importance of the functioning of and respecting BiH Constitution in ensuring the equality of Croats and attaining European standards. “Bosnia and Herzegovina’s strength and stability hinge on harmonizing national and individual interests, based on democratic standards guaranteed primarily by the Constitution – and a constitution is valued by what it enables, just like a political system is valued by what it achieves,” he said, adding that “the idea of a European BiH of equal peoples today has a far stronger international support, which can be used to its full capacity, both for the good of BiH and Croats as constituent peoples.”

Conclusively, Grlić Radman reaffirmed Croatia’s continued support for BiH’s European path and the necessary institutional reforms. “Croatia, in the spirit of European values, through its own institutions unreservedly supports the equality of the three constituent peoples in line with the political tradition of BiH, its Constitution and the decision by the Constitutional Court on legitimate representation,” the minister underlined.
