Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman attended on Wednesday as the envoy of the prime minister the laying of the cornerstone for the Cirkovce-Pince transmission line.

“This is a project of joint EU interest and unquestionable importance for the strengthening of infrastructure links in Central Europe, notably between Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia, three neighbouring countries in a geopolitically vital area,” Grlić Radman said.

The minister underscored that projects like these and the energy sector in general would be highly important for the EU’s economic recovery, adding that the Cirkovce-Pince transmission line was a testament to the good neighbourly relations between Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia. “Apart from political cooperation, I must also underline the excellent economic cooperation in construction and reconstruction projects among companies,” Grlić Radman said.

“In the period ahead, Croatia will focus even more on energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, energy storage and the completion of key infrastructure projects,” the minister said. He added that Croatia, through platforms such as the Three Seas Initiative, was working intensely on promoting projects that would help Southeast Europe to diversify energy sources.
