Minister Grlić Radman attends Conference on Human Dimension of Ukraine’s Peace Formula
The discussion focused on solutions for key humanitarian priorities, notably the safe return of detained civilians and displaced children, and the protection of those still in conflict zones. Grlić Radman emphasized that Croatia stands firmly with Ukraine, providing comprehensive humanitarian aid and sharing its own experiences. He underscored a shared goal: a resolution supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and affirming the fundamental rights and security of its citizens. He reiterated Croatia’s commitment to humanitarian efforts for the return of displaced children, stressing the importance of protecting the rights of children, women, and other vulnerable groups.
On Thursday, participants continued in smaller sessions, discussing specific activities under each proposed theme and further action steps. In the session dedicated to Obtaining Complete and Accurate Information, Grlić Radman presented Croatia’s activities and cooperation with Ukraine in this area, highlighting Croatia’s partnership with the Red Cross to safeguard children, assist their return, and secure conditions for their future. He noted that around 90 children from conflict zones in Ukraine are currently in Split, and since 2015, over 4,000 children have stayed in Croatia as part of humanitarian aid initiatives.
While in Canada, the minister met with several representatives of the Croatian diaspora. In Ottawa, he joined the Croatian community to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the reopening of the Croatian Embassy, made possible by contributions from Canadians of Croatian descent, thanking them for their selfless patriotism that preserves Croatian identity and connects the two countries. On the sidelines of the conference, he held several bilateral meetings with colleagues, emphasizing the importance of joint commitment to addressing urgent humanitarian priorities related to the war in Ukraine.
