Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Friday attended the 28th Forum of Croatian Minorities, organized by the Croatian Heritage Foundation. This year’s Forum focused on the connections of Croatian minority communities with Croatia’s educational, cultural and scientific institutions in the decade of its EU membership.

“Protecting and caring for Croatian minorities is a strategic priority of this government, as evidenced by concrete examples throughout various departments, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the ministries of science and education, culture and media, tourism and sports, regional development, and especially the Central State Office for Croats Abroad, which is running special programs and contributing to the topics discussed today,” Grlić Radman said.

The Forum saw representatives of science institutes as well as cultural associations and foundations from various countries, including Austria, Montenegro, Serbia, Italy, Hungary, Romania, North Macedonia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Their attendance testifies to the importance of cooperation and dialogue between Croatian minorities and their countries of origin.

Grlić Radman was optimistic about advancing cooperation and intensifying the joint efforts to strengthen ties between Croatian minority communities and the relevant Croatian institutions. The Forum was an opportunity for a deeper understanding of the challenges minority communities face and seek solutions to improve their social, cultural and educational status. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, through tenders and sponsorships, regularly participates in cultural, educational and scientific projects aimed at promoting the Croatian cultural heritage and culture in general in countries where the Croatian minorities live.
