Minister Grabar-Kitarović taking part at the annual meeting of CEI foreign ministers in Tatarska Lomnica

Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović took part on May 27, 2005, at the annual meeting of CEI foreign ministers in Tatarska Lomnica, Slovakia. The meeting discussed the political situation in the Central Europe.

The final document pointed out Croatia’s expectations to start its EU pre-accession talks as soon as possible. In the context of NATO enlargement, the ministers welcomed the interest of Croatia, Albania and Macedonia to join NATO.

Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović stressed the importance of regional cooperation in the EU enlargement process, especially the importance of CEI as the oldest European regional forum with the highest number of members, whose mechanisms support, politically and in program terms, CEI members in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović stressed the meaning of relations between the Central European Initiative and the European Union, as well as the decision to invite the European Commission to become a CEI monitor, and the formation of a European Commission office in charge of CEI and EU cooperation.
