Minister Grabar-Kitarović received US Congress delegation, led by Congresswoman Melissa Bean

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on 23 July 2007 the delegation of the United States Congress, led by Congresswoman Melissa Bean

During the meeting, Minister Grabar-Kitarović presented Croatia’s foreign policy goals – EU and NATO accession, regional co-operation and co-operation with the neighbouring countries, as well as Croatia’s positioning within international organisations and community.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed the members of the US Congress about the dynamics and current state of Croatia’s EU membership negotiations, as well as the development of relations with NATO. In that regard, speaking about co-operation with the neighbouring countries, Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointed out that open bilateral issues should be resolved through bilateral relations, fully respecting the principles of the international law. Talking about Croatia’s role in the international community, Minister Grabar-Kitarović mentioned Croatia’s candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for the 2008/2009 period, its active participation in other UN bodies, and its role in the Afghanistan peacekeeping mission.
