Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on 1 June 2007 the Russian President’s plenipotentiary representative for the Central Federal District of Moscow, Georgiy Poltavchenko

The meeting focused on the bilateral relations and co-operation in certain areas. Part of the meeting also concerned the overall relations between the Republic of Croatia and the Russian Federation, with both sides expressing satisfaction with the current level of the bilateral relations and a wish for the intensification of the highest-level visit exchange.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the development of the relations between Croatia and the Central Federal District, with the two officials agreeing that there are real preconditions for their further intensification. They exchanged opinions about the concrete economic co-operation between Croatia and the Central Federal District of Moscow and, in light of the mutual wish for the development of good economic relations, reviewed the possibilities and areas of strengthening the co-operation. They especially pointed out the co-operation potential in tourism, energy and transport, while the Croatian side stated its openness towards foreign investment.

The two officials also reviewed the effects of Minister Grabar-Kitarović’s official visit to the Russian Federation in November last year on the development and deepening of the economic co-operation, as well as the concretisation of the relations between both sides’ economic subjects.
