Minister Grabar-Kitarović met with European Commissioner for Science and Research Janez Potočnik

Commissioner Potočnik congratulated Croatia on opening the accession negotiations with the EU, pointing out his satisfaction with the fact that the screening started with the chapter science and research, which he is in charge of.

Speaking about the importance of science and research for the development of society as a whole, Minister Grabar-Kitarović stated that the Croatian Government is also trying to stimulate the private sector to invest more in those areas.

Discussing the citizens’ familiarity with the European integration, the two agreed that it is necessary to improve the communication with the citizens, so that they could be informed with all the pros and cons of joining the EU.
