Minister Grabar-Kitarović met with European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services Charlie McCreevy

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović met on 20 September 2007 with European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services Charlie McCreevy

The two exchanged opinions about the current processes in the development of the internal market of the European Union. Minister Grabar-Kitarović said that Croatia, as a future full member of the EU, closely following those activities and supports the European Commission’s efforts to adapt the single market to the demands of the enlarged EU, as well as the changes brought about by globalisation.

Speaking about the current course of Croatia’s EU membership negotiations, Minister Grabar-Kitarović thanked Commissioner McCreevy and the Directorate General for Internal Market and Services for their co-operation and support, pointing out that internal market and services is one of the most important areas since it encompasses six negotiation chapters. She stated her conviction that, along with the four already open, the remaining two chapters from said area will be opened soon, with the closing of the chapter on intellectual property.

Commissioner McCreevy expressed satisfaction with Croatia’s progress in the EU negotiations, namely in the area of internal market and services.

Present at the meeting, apart from Minister Grabar-Kitarović, was also Chief Negotiator for Croatia’s EU Accession Vladimir Drobnjak.
