Minister Gordan Jandroković received NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe James G. Stavridis

The two exchanged opinions about Croatia’s contribution to NATO mission in Afghanistan and Kosovo, as well as about the current political topics and security challenges in South Eastern Europe

Admiral Stavridis expressed satisfaction with the fact that Croatia is a NATO member, as well as with its contribution to ISAF. He commended the Croatian soldiers’ engagement in Afghanistan and Kosovo, pointing out that one got the impression that Croatia, thanks to its political and military contribution to NATO, was already a long-time member of the Alliance.

They agreed that setting up national military forces and other defence institutions was of the utmost importance for the future of Afghanistan.

Minister Jandroković reiterated the Croatian Government’s position that the Euro-Atlantic perspective was a prerequisite for the stability of the entire region of South Eastern Europe, as well as a stimulus for the reform processes in its countries. He added that Croatia fully supported the region’s countries along their way to NATO and EU membership.

Admiral Stavridis praised Croatia’s positive attitude towards the region’s countries, as well as its policy of seeking peaceful, negotiation-based solutions to all of the political and security issues.

Minister Jandroković and Admiral Stavridis also talked about NATO’s new strategic concept, as well as the relations between NATO and the Russian Federation.
