Minister Gordan Jandroković received Minister-President of Belgium’s Flanders Region Kris Peeters

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković received on 26 March 2008 the Minister-President of one of the Kingdom of Belgium’s three regions, the Flanders Region, Kris Peeters

The Republic of Croatia and the Flanders Region have excellent and friendly bilateral relations, with a continuity on both the economic and political plane.

A confirmation of such relations if the recently-ratified Agreement on Co-operation between the Croatian and Flemish governments, which will intensify co-operation in areas of joint interest, such as small- and middle-sized entrepreneurship, culture and science, as well as the co-operation between the European Studies centres and all levels of education.

Minister-President Peeters and Minister Jandroković talked about the Pre-Accession Assistance Program, in which Flanders included Croatia in 2004, with Minister Jandroković thanking for Flanders’ confidence in increasing the funds for co-operation on forthcoming projects in relation to last year.

Reporting on the current condition and future course of Croatia’s EU negotiations, Minister Jandroković thanked the Flemish side for the support for Croatia along that path. The meeting also discussed the pending NATO Summit in Bucharest, as well as the current state of affairs in South Eastern Europe.
