Minister Gordan Jandroković met with Minister of National Economy of the Sultanate of Oman Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki

Expressing the wish to continue the dynamics of the mutual bilateral visits that are contributing to the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries, Minister Jandroković reminded of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman in October 2009, marking the first visit of a Croatian minister of foreign affairs to this country. Good relations are also promoted by the facilitation of the visa regime for the holders of diplomatic and official passports of the Sultanate of Oman who, as of 1 January this year, will no longer need visas for a stay in the Republic of Croatia of up to 90 days.

The ministers agreed that the fact that Croatia and Oman share numerous common interests and have good bilateral relations should be put to use with a view to strengthening economic cooperation. Likewise, added Minister Jandroković, and with regard to the economies of the two countries being complementary, the economic relations offer quality potential for further intensification. He specifically invited for investments of the companies from Oman in the Croatian economy and joint investments, and more frequent contacts and visits among the entrepreneurs from both states. Minister Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki agreed with this and invited the Croatian businessmen to invest in the Sultanate of Oman. He also presented the main development guidelines for the Oman economy, on which the idea of diversification of the economy is based. He underlined tourism as one of the industries that will have a priority in the future.

Minister Jandroković added that the current economic cooperation between the two countries, which is based on oil, gas and food products, could be intensified through the Croatian infrastructural paths for the import and export of the Oman products to the EU countries.

They also discussed the current political and security situation in the Middle East with special emphasis on the countries in the Persian Gulf.
