Minister Gordan Jandroković in Slovakia, on his first official visit
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković visited the Slovakian Republic 5 February 2008, on his first official visit. On that occasion he met in separate meetings with Slovakian President Ivan Gašparovič, Parliament’s Speaker Pavol Paško, Vice-Prime Minister Dušan Čaplovič, and Foreign Minister Jan Kubiš as the host
The Slovakian side described the bilateral relations as excellent and reiterated the strong support for Croatia’s EU and NATO membership. Regarding Croatia’s EU accession, Foreign Minister Kubiš noted the visible progress Croatia has made in conducting the reforms to that end, pointing out that bilateral issues with other EU members should not burden Croatia’s negotiation process. Both sides agreed that the future of the South Eastern European countries lies within the European Union.
In the spirit of excellent bilateral relations, both sides expressed satisfaction with the status of the Slovakian minority in Croatia and the Croatian minority in Slovakia, as confirmed by the meeting between Minister Jandroković and the representatives of the Croatian minority, which concluded the program of his official visit.
