Minister Jandroković thanked for the opportunity to speak before the members of the Japanese Employers’ Federation, as an important element of the Japanese economy. The goal of the first official visit to Japan, apart from political issues, is the strengthening of the two countries’ economic cooperation, said the minister.

Since its gaining of independence, Croatia has been running a consistent foreign and economic policy, and has undergone not only a political, but an economic and social transformation as well, said Minister Jandroković. Croatia has already realized its first foreign-policy goal – NATO membership, and is soon expected to achieve its next one – joining the EU, pointed out the minister.

In the part of the lecture concerning the repercussions of the global economic crisis, a time that necessitates seeking the solutions in bilateral and multilateral cooperation, Minister Jandroković said that the goal of Croatia’s trade policy remains increasing the export and attracting foreign investment. In that regard, he pointed out the active work on improving the legal frameworks in order to facilitate foreign investment. Concluding the lecture, Minister Jandroković discussed the advantages that Croatia as a market is offering Japanese businessmen by way of an open economy with comparative advantages.

The lecture was attended by some 40 businessmen from Japan’s most well-known companies, including CEOs from Itochu, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Shimizu, Nippon Steel, Suzuki Motors, Toshiba, Japan Airlines, Panasonic, and Mitsubishi Electric, as well as businessmen from Croatia: Deputy Director for International Relations as the Croatian Chamber of Economy Dunja Konjevod, HEP Management Board President Leo Begović, Estare Culto Chief Director Nikola Mikić, Kraš Management Board Vice-President Darko Radišić, and Sardina Chief Director Miroslav Bezmalinović.
