Minister Gordan Jandroković and Minister of Justice Ivan Šimonović met with Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle

At the meeting, they discussed the current status of Croatia’s negotiations for full membership of the European Union and the forthcoming Intergovernmental Conference to be held on 19 February 2010 in u Brussels, where the Republic of Croatia will open two more chapters. They informed Commissioner Füle about the activities regarding the technical conclusion of the negotiations.

They underlined the commitment to full cooperation with The Hague Tribunal and the reform of the judiciary and public administration, including the fight against corruption, on which Commissioner Füle was informed in detail.

During the meeting they touched upon the need to strengthen administrative capacities so that Croatia could successfully employ the funds that will be made available in the first two years of membership.

They agreed that the prospects of EU membership had to stay open for all South East European countries, and that this was in the interest of both SEE and the EU countries.
