MFAEI State Secretary Pejčinović in Bucharest at meeting of SEECP countries
State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Marija Pejčinović is taking part today, 10 May2005, in Bucharest at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries participating in South East Europe Co-operation Process
In her presentation, State Secretary Pejčinović mentioned the progress of the SEECP countries in the process of European integration and the areas Croatia sees as priority – justice and internal affairs, infrastructure development and environment protection. Pejčinović also pointed out that Croatia is putting forth maximum effort in meeting the remaining criteria for the start of the negotiations with the EU and continuing to promote good neighbourly relations, stability and co-operation in SEE, as a precondition for regional development, progress and stabilisation in the process of European integration.
The meeting also reviewed the situation and recent developments in SEE, with a special emphasis on the participating countries’ achievements in approaching the EU. Numerous countries expressed their hope that Croatia will begin negotiation with the EU soon, thus setting the example and providing motivation for other countries in the region as regards the democratic stabilisation, and economic and other comprehensive reforms.
