MFAEI’s reaction to news on bomb attacks on Shiite shrine Golden Mosque in Samarra and other religious objects
It was with regret that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration received the news on the bomb attacks on the Shiite shrine Golden Mosque in Samarra and other religious objects that have ensued
The MFAEI strongly condemns that act, as well as any other acts of violence against people and attacks on religious objects in Iraq that surely do not contribute to the easing of the tension between the religious communities and undermine the Iraqi process of stabilisation and reconstruction.
The MFAEI, however, expresses hope and a wish for the Iraqi people and their political and religious leaders to find a way of dialogue and a peaceful solution to the conflict, so as to build a democratic, prosperous, and unitary Iraq in which all of its ethnic and religious communities will be able to live in peace and equality.
