MFAEI responded to Slovenia’s protest about agricultural estate management, rejecting statements from their note and MFA’s press release

Regarding the Slovenian side’s protest about the agricultural estate management on the left (south) bank of the St. Odorik Canal by the City of Buje, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration sent a response fully rejecting the statements from Slovenia’s diplomatic note and the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ press release from 13 July 2007, describing them as unfounded and unlawful

In its diplomatic note, the MFAEI points out that the area in question is undisputedly a part of the Croatian national territory and has been under the jurisdiction of the relevant Croatian bodies even before the two countries’ gaining of independence, as well as on 25 June 1991 and today, when all of the proceedings, estate management included, are conducted by the bodies of local government and self-government in accordance with the relevant Croatian laws.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration considers such positions to be yet another attempt of the Slovenian side to politicise and one-sidedly reach for the Croatian national territory.
