In his regular consultations the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Tonino Picula, spoke with the top officials of the Croatian diplomatic and consular missions to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to the Ambassador, Prof. Josip Vrbošić, and the Consuls General from Banja Luka and Mostar, Ivan Lepoglavec and Ratko Maričić, respectively, the consultations were also attended by the Croatian diplomats covering the areas of the economy, political relations, consular issues and other activities. All the participants pointed out the importance of continuing the policy of good neighbourly relations as an integral part of the Croatia application for the EU membership and peace in the region, and Croatia's support in Bosnia's approach to the Euro-Atlantic integration processes.

Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina have signed about a dozen agreements. Croatia is the biggest trade partner of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Bosnia-Herzegovina is one of the biggest trade partners of Croatia. There is a lot of potential for further development, provided that the remaining Agreements in this area, particularly those regulating property relations, are signed.

Minister Picula focused on the position of the Croatian people in Bosnia-Herzegovina and finding a way to ensure their continued existence in the neighbouring state. The Minister was informed about the activities for the establishment of the Croatian Cultural Centre and the efforts for the improvement and extension of the network of other institutions.

The return of the Croats to their homes, particularly in the territory of the Republic of Srpska, remains a problem the solution to which requires additional efforts, like donation of building materials to the returnees and other assistance.
