On the fringes of Dubrovnik Forum, State Secretary for Europe Andreja Metelko-Zgombić met with Estonian Undersecretary for European Affairs Märt Volmer. The two officials underscored satisfaction with bilateral relations, highlighting the potential for additional strengthening in the areas of economy, defence, cybersecurity and e-services. Metelko-Zgombić underlined the activities Croatia is undertaking to join the Schengen Area and eurozone. The two officials exchanged views on the topical matters on the EU agenda, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, they stressed the importance of infrastructural connectivity through the Three Seas Initiative for achieving economic integration and the European project overall.
Metelko-Zgombić and Cypriot State Secretary for European Affairs Kornelios Korneliou expressed satisfaction with bilateral relations between the two Mediterranean countries, reaffirming interest for a stronger cooperation. Metelko-Zgombić thanked for Cyprus’ support to Croatia’s ambition to join MED7 and for co-signing Croatia’s non-paper on Bosnia and Herzegovina. The two officials also discussed the Cyprus dispute and relations with Turkey, and exchanged views on the Conference on the Future of Europe.
During the talks with Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Rumen Alexandrov, the two officials underlined satisfaction with the very dynamic bilateral relations, with prospects for additional advancement on the bilateral and multilateral level. Metelko-Zgombić and Alexandrov welcomed the Three Seas Initiative summit held on 8 and 9 July, as well as the talks between Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Bulgarian President Rumen Radev. Apart from bilateral matters, the two officials also exchanged views on the political situation in the region in the context of enlargement, national recovery and resilience plans, as well as joining the Schengen Area and eurozone.
