Meeting of Commission for Monitoring Serbia’s Implementation of Chapters 23, 24

The second meeting of the Government Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of Transition Benchmarks in Serbia’s Negotiation of Chapter 23 and 24 was held 31 August 2016 in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs

The second meeting of the Government Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of Transition Benchmarks in Serbia’s Negotiation of Chapter 23 and 24 was held 31 August 2016 in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

The meeting was presided by Foreign Minister Miro Kovač and saw the attendance of Justice Minister Ante Šprlje, Veterans' Affairs Minister Tomo Medved, Deputy Interior Minister Davor Blažević, Deputy Defence Minister Tomislav Ivić and other members of the commission.

The Croatian government on 19 July 2016 reached a decision on establishing the Commission, which is tasked with: monitoring the implementation of the commitment to annul the legislation by which Serbia has arbitrarily extended its jurisdiction for prosecuting war crimes onto the neighbouring countries; monitoring the setting up and functioning of the legal framework for the protection of minority rights in Serbia; monitoring the implementation of the commitment to indiscriminately ensure the victims of was their rights, access to justice and judiciary, including the right to compensation; and monitoring Serbia’s commitment to full cooperation in identifying and uncovering the fate of the missing persons.
