On the sidelines of To Be Secure Forum in Budva, the foreign and economy ministers of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro signed a joint statement on the Ionian-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (IAP), confirming strong support to the project’s realization.

The statement affirms strong support to the EU energy policy, based on source, route and supply diversification. Since the IAP qualifies as a priority on the EU Projects of Common Interest, the ministers supported the forming of an international committee of signatory countries as well as the speedy signing of a memorandum of understanding in order to set up a permanent operative body that would coordinate future administrative and technical activities. The operative body will be tasked with preparing a joint action plan for the implementation of the project no later than 1 October this year.

Participating in the meeting were Albanian ministers of foreign affairs and energy Ditmir Bushati and Damian Gjiknuri, Bosnian FM Igor Crnadak, Croatian FM Vesna Pusić and Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak, as well as Monenegrin FM Igor Lukšić and Economy Minister Vladimir Kavarić.
