On the occasion of the re-establishment of railway passenger traffic between our two countries, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade wish to recall that Croatia and Hungary have always considered each other good neighbours and valuable partners, who even now have a number of important development projects in the works.

Our governments agree that it is necessary to bring back the positive atmosphere in our bilateral relations, in accordance with our citizens’ expectations.

In that spirit, we have reached a decision to re-open railway passenger traffic between our two countries. This will allow the crossing of border for all persons who respect the rules and regulations, at the same time prohibiting it for those who do not.

This decision is the first indicator of improving bilateral relations between Croatia and Hungary, following intensified bilateral talks on the highest level after the new Croatian government took office.

The Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade believe that the re-establishment of railway passenger traffic will contribute to a better connectedness and cooperation between two friendly neighbouring countries and will benefit their citizens and economies.
