As part of Croatia’s EU presidency, Zagreb and Brussels 9 and 10 January 2020 saw an informal meeting of EU political directors

As part of Croatia’s EU presidency, Zagreb and Brussels 9 and 10 January 2020 saw an informal meeting of EU political directors.

The meeting was hosted by Petar Mihatov, political director at Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and Jean-Christophe Belliard on behalf the European External Action Service.

The participants discussed the situation in the Middle East, with emphasis on Iraq and Iran, as well as Libya ahead of the extraordinary session of the Foreign Affairs Council on 10 January. The political directors also held talks on these topics with the U.S. Undersecretary of State David Hale.
