Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 3 October 2019 received on inaugural visit the Ambassador of New Zealand, Anthony George Simpson.

The two officials underscored the very good and friendly relations between Croatia and New Zealand, based on close historical ties. Grlić Radman emphasized the role of Croatian diaspora in New Zealand as an important bridge in the strengthening of bilateral relations. Grlić Radman and Simpson also discussed the prospects of additionally boosting the dialogue between the two countries, priorities of Croatia’s Council of the EU chairmanship, as well as the European journey of Albania and North Macedonia.  

Grlić Radman and Simpson expressed interest to introduce Croatian as subsidiary language in New Zealand’s schools.
