Head of Croatian delegation, Assistant Minister to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration at the Directorate for International Organisations and Security Pjer Šimunovic participated on Friday, 18 May 2007, in a meeting of ministers of foreign affairs of the Central European Initiative, in Sofia, The Republic of Bulgaria
The meeting of ministers of foreign affairs of the Central European Initiative in Sofia took place under the chairmanship of the Republic of Bulgaria. Ministers discussed the stimulation of multilateral approach to cooperation which is confirmed by joint political and economic actions, and it was pointed out that institutionalisation of relations with the European Union has great importance for the strengthening of CEI's role.
Central European Initiative (CEI) is a transnational regional association with a three-dimensional cooperation character: political, parliamentary, and economic. It includes 18 member countries and the Republic of Croatia has been a full member of the CEI since 1992. Practical activities of the CEI member countries are achieved through implementation of specific projects within the framework of 17 work groups. The Republic of Croatia chairs the Tourism Work Group, and co-chairs the Environment and Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Work Groups.
