Opatija and Rijeka are to host the first in a series of seminars and round tables on current EU topics titled “Get Informed and Make a Difference!”

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, in cooperation with the European Commission Representation and the European Parliament Information Office, is organizing the first in a series of seminars and round tables in Opatija and Rijeka 14 and 15 February.

The Opatija seminar (14 February) will see presentations on the European Semester 2014, the role of media in the European public space and experiences of Croatian reporters from Brussels in shaping the public opinion about the EU.

The round table in Rijeka (15 February) will be themed “Youth and Employment” and will see panel discussions on the European Youth Guarantee, Croatia’s measures for stimulating youth employment, EU member states’ experiences and their youth employment models.

The aim of these round tables and seminars is to inform Croatian citizens about the European topics and decisions that affect their everyday lives as well as about the upcoming European Parliament elections, at which our citizens for the second time will choose our representatives. Hence the title: “Get Informed and Make a Difference!”

After Opatija and Rijeka, seminars and round tables move to Varaždin (the role of local and regional self-government, multiannual financial framework) and Osijek (EU institutional system, strengthening the role of European Parliament).

The round tables are to be hosted by Assistant Minister for European Affairs Hrvoje Marušić.

All interested parties are invited to come to the Rijeka City Hall (Korzo 16) at 11.30 hours.
