Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on 10 July 2023 in Ancona participated in the 4th trilateral meeting with the foreign ministers of Slovenia and Italy, Tanja Fajon and Antonio Tajani.

Grlić Radman thanked Tajani for his hospitality and for his successful participation in the Dubrovnik Forum, where he was the main guest speaker.

“In addition to the three areas that we have defined as key when it comes to the protection of the common Adriatic Sea – environmental protection, blue economy and connectivity, I am glad that our cooperation has been extended at Croatia’s proposal to an important area of home affairs, namely security. This is especially important in the context of Russia’s aggression on Ukraine and illegal migration our countries are dealing with,” Grlić Radman said. “Part of our trilateral cooperation, as well as wider cooperation in priority areas, is taking place under the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region. Last month, Croatia took over the one-year presidency of EUSAIR and the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative,” the minister added.

Grlić Radman recalled that on 11-12 October 2023, Zagreb will host the International Donor Conference on Mine Action in Ukraine, adding that Croatia unfortunately knew all too well the challenges of rebuilding a war-torn community and that demining was a prerequisite for reconstruction and recovery.
Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg joined in the second part of the meeting to discuss Russia’s aggression on Ukraine, curbing illegal migration and the importance of stability and security in the Western Balkans.

The ministers signed a joint declaration, which Grlić Radman described as a follow-up to what had been agreed on at the previous meetings. The declaration reflects the goals of strengthening cooperation and advancing projects.
