Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusić 23 July 2012 took part in a meeting of the General Affairs Council in Brussels

The meeting discussed the development of events in the southern neighbourhood, namely Syria, where the situation continues to deteriorate, then Libya, Sudan and South Sudan, and Mali, as well as the Common Security and Defence Policy and missions, China and Eastern Partnership.

In regard to Syria, the EU foreign ministers expanded the list of persons whose assets are frozen and who are banned from travelling, as well as stiffened the regulations regarding the weapons export ban. They doubled the humanitarian aid for the Syrian refugees and expressed concern over the spreading of crisis beyond the Syrian border and the regime’s attacks on civilians.
